Product details

Rotary lime kiln refractories are specialized materials and structures used to line and protect the interior of rotary lime kilns, which are essential in the production of lime from limestone. These refractories play a critical role in maintaining the kiln's integrity and ensuring its long-term performance.

Key points about rotary lime kiln refractories

High Temperature Environments: Rotary lime kilns operate at extremely high temperatures, often exceeding 900°C (1652°F). The refractories used in these kilns must be capable of withstanding such extreme heat.

Resistance to Alkalis: Lime production involves the decomposition of limestone, which can release alkaline materials. The refractories must resist the corrosive effects of alkalis and maintain their integrity over time.

Thermal Insulation: Insulating refractories are employed to minimize heat loss from the kiln and improve its energy efficiency. This is essential for cost-effective lime production.

Diverse Refractory Materials: The linings of rotary lime kilns use various types of refractory materials, including magnesite, magnesia-chrome, dolomite, and alumina-silica. The choice of material depends on the specific conditions of the kiln and the requirements of the lime production process.

Refractory Lining Structure: The lining of the rotary lime kiln is designed with several layers, each serving a unique purpose. The selection of these layers and their arrangement is critical to the kiln's overall performance.

Maintenance: Proper maintenance and periodic inspection of the refractory lining are essential to ensure the kiln's continued operation and prevent issues such as hot spots or material buildup.

Impact on Lime Quality: The quality of lime produced in rotary kilns is influenced by the condition of the refractories. Damaged or deteriorating refractories can lead to impurities or uneven heating, affecting the final lime product.

Rotary lime kiln refractories are essential components in lime production, contributing to both the efficiency and quality of the process. Proper selection, installation, and maintenance of these refractories are critical to the overall success of lime manufacturing.

A rotary lime kiln is a specialized industrial furnace used for the production of lime, a key ingredient in various applications, including construction, agriculture, and manufacturing processes. Lime is primarily produced by heating limestone (calcium carbonate) to high temperatures in a rotary lime kiln, resulting in the release of carbon dioxide and the conversion of limestone into quicklime (calcium oxide).

Key features and components of a typical lime kiln

Charging System:

Limestone is fed into the kiln through a charging system, which can be either a batch or continuous process, depending on the type of kiln.

Preheating Zone:

In this section, the limestone is preheated using waste heat from the combustion process to reduce the energy required for the subsequent calcination process.

Calcination Zone:

The main purpose of the lime kiln is the calcination of limestone, which occurs in this zone. During calcination, the limestone is heated to temperatures typically ranging from 900 to 1,200 degrees Celsius (1,650 to 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit). As a result, carbon dioxide is released, and calcium oxide (quicklime) is produced.

Cooling Zone:

After calcination, quicklime moves into a cooling zone where it is cooled down to a temperature suitable for handling and further processing.

Emissions Control:

Lime kilns produce emissions, including carbon dioxide and particulate matter, which need to be controlled to minimize environmental impact. Modern lime kilns often employ various emission control technologies, such as baghouses, scrubbers, and electrostatic precipitators.

Exhaust and Energy Recovery:

The hot exhaust gases from the lime kiln can be used for energy recovery, such as preheating incoming air or generating steam for other industrial processes, to improve energy efficiency.

Control Systems:

Lime kilns are equipped with control systems to monitor and regulate the temperature, airflow, and other parameters to ensure the efficient and consistent production of lime.

AGRM can customized lime kilns according to your requirements.

According to the shape of the kilns, they can be divided into square kilns, circular kilns, etc.

According to the characteristics of flame flow, it can be divided into horizontal flame kilns, ascending flame kilns, inverted flame kilns, horseshoe shaped flame kilns, etc;

According to the type of fuel used, it can be divided into coal burning kilns, oil burning kilns, gas kilns, etc;

According to the material transportation method, it can be further divided into kiln-car kilns, roller bottom kilns, push plate kilns, etc.

According to different purposes, lime kilns have the following specifications and models:

There are seven types of lime kilns

Including Rotary kiln equipment with production capacity of 300 t/d~1500 t/d;

The production capacity of the double chamber vertical kiln equipment is from 200 t/d to 800 t/d, with a total of 6 scales;

The production capacity of single chamber vertical kiln equipment is from 100 t/d to 600 t/d, with a total of 6 scales;

The production capacity of the annular sleeve kiln equipment is from 150 t/d to 800 t/d, with a total of 5 scales;
